What is the difference between an OEM camcorder battery and DuracellDirect's camcorder batteries?
Aftermarket Sharp camcorder batteries at DuracellDirect are safe, come with a one year warranty and will either meet
or exceed OEM manufacturer specifications. All of our camcorder batteries are tested and have various UL, CE, RoHS and
FCC safety certifications. Our aftermarket batteries will have a better build quality with newer technology, longer
battery life, durability and safety when compared to an OEM camcorder battery.
What different types of Sharp camcorder batteries are there?
Your replacement Sharp camcorder battery will have cells that are made from one of four different chemistries: Li-Ion
(Lithium Ion), Ni-Cad (Nickel Cadmium), NiMH (Nickel Metal Hydride), and Li-Poly (Lithium Polymer). Each individual
type has differences and advantages over the other types; for example, one may have a longer expected-lifespan, while
another may have a faster average charge time. These differences are minimal, and each of the four types are used
worldwide in video camera batteries.
Why do Sharp camcorder batteries have different capacities?
A camcorder battery’s capacity is measured in milliampere-hour (also referred to as “mAh”). The milliampere-hour
rating can change for a number of reasons: cell size, voltage, wattage, and cell type. Normally, larger batteries will
have a higher capacity than smaller batteries of the same chemistry. Also, larger cells will have higher capacities
due to having more electrode and electrolyte materials.
How long will my Sharp video camera battery last?
Your replacement Sharp video camera battery will endure several hours of recording or playback, without needing to be
recharged. The time it takes to charge your video camera battery can range from one to three hours, with some batteries
reaching 80% capacity in just an hour. Customers should expect their aftermarket Sharp video camera battery to have a
total lifespan of three years, or 500 discharge / charge cycles. The total life span and the use-per-charge can be
affected by the condition of your battery and whether it has been treated properly.
How safe are Sharp camcorder batteries and batteries in general? How do I take care of my Sharp battery?
DuracellDirect’s replacement Sharp camcorder batteries, and other products such as camcorder chargers, meet safety
certifications such as CE, FCC, UL, and RoHS. We make sure that our customers pass rigorous testing and proper assembly
before being shipped to our customers.
Even the safest batteries still have a small chance of becoming defective, especially under certain factors. Weather
conditions such as freezing temperatures and prolonged heat can damage your battery permanently. Do not attempt to
take apart your battery; this, along with dropping the battery and many other physical acts, can cause damage to the
outside of the battery as well as the cells inside. Water damage can occur from rainwater and any other liquids that
come into contact with your Sharp camcorder battery. If you see any leaks on the battery, check to see if it is within
warranty; if it is not, take it to a recycling center immediately to dispose of it.
