What is the difference between an OEM laptop battery and DuracellDirect's laptop batteries?
DuracellDirect provides replacement Acer laptop batteries that will either meet or exceed OEM specifications. Our
aftermarket laptop battery products come with a complete one year warranty, and have also attained various safety
certifications, including UL, CE, RoHS and FCC. Aftermarket laptop batteries tend to have a better build quality and
technology, giving them a better advantage over OEM with longer battery life, durability, and safety.
What different types of Acer laptop batteries are there?
Our aftermarket Acer laptop batteries may be made from one of four types: Li-Ion (Lithium Ion), Li-Poly (Lithium
Polymer), Ni-Cad (Nickel Cadmium), or NiMH (Nickel Metal Hydride). Each battery type has distinct advantages over the
other, such as longer life per charge, longer overall life cycle, weight, size, faster charge time, or stability. But,
all four types are universally accepted for creating high quality replacement laptop batteries.
Why do Acer laptop batteries have different capacities?
The capacity of an Acer laptop battery is measured in “mAh” (milliampere-hour). Many different factors affect battery
capacities: in particular, capacity size, voltage, wattage, and even the battery chemistry type. The more electrolyte
and electrode material there is in the laptop battery cells, the larger the capacity will be if the chemistry make up
is the same. Larger laptop battery capacities will always last longer than laptop batteries with lower battery capacities.
How long will my Acer laptop battery last?
On average, your replacement Acer laptop battery will last several hours on one full charge. However, it will take one
to three hours of recharging to achieve a full charge, with roughly 80% capacity being reached within the first hour.
The total lifespan of your Acer laptop battery is around three years and can see over 500 discharge / charge cycles.
The use-per-charge and lifespan is also affected by certain conditions, such as the type of battery, the amount of use
it gets, and whether it is treated properly or abused.
How safe are Acer laptop batteries and batteries in general? How do I take care of my Acer battery?
DuracellDirect Acer laptop batteries and Acer laptop chargers are tested and attain a variety of safety certifications
before being sold to our customers. These battery, charger, and electronic safety certifications include UL, CE, RoHS, and FCC.
Laptop batteries are very durable, but can also be very fragile at the same time and can be destroyed under certain
conditions. Avoid leaving your Acer laptop battery in extreme conditions. This includes leaving your Acer laptop
battery in direct sunlight in a car, avoid moisture, rain and any sort of freezing temperature, and do not drop or hit
the notebook battery. Never attempt to take apart your laptop battery, as this can disrupt the cells, short circuit the
internals and cause a battery defect. Always watch for any leaks coming from the battery and dispose of it properly
when the laptop battery has reached the end of its life capacity.
